The JAMBresult.org team is happy to inform all candidates that participated in the 2020/2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE), that the Joint Admission and Matriculations Board (JAMB) authorities have released the official cut-off mark for all Nigerian Universities, Polytechnics, colleges of education and Monotechnics in Nigeria.

Candidates should take note that the minimum cut off marks for admissions into universities in Nigeria was set at 120, while the minimum cut off marks for admission into polytechnics and colleges of education set at 100. However, that of innovative enterprising institutes was set at 110.

This means that candidates who score below 110 at the just concluded JAMB examination will not be admitted into any degree-awarding academic institution in Nigeria.

2020 candidates should note that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) announced the cutoff marks, during the 2020 policy meeting on admissions to DEGREE, NIGERIA CERTIFICATE IN EDUCATION and NATIONAL DIPLOMA – AWARDING INSTITUTIONS.

Nigerian universities and their cut-off marks.

  • Public Universities ⇒ 160.
  • Private Universities ⇒ 140.
  • Public Polytechnics ⇒ 120.
  • Private Polytechnics ⇒ 110.
  • Colleges of Education ⇒ 100.

However, it is imperative for candidates to note here, that all academic institutions are at liberty to raise their cut off marks for admission above the minimum set by JAMB, but they can’t go below the cut off marks.

These decisions were taken at the just concluded 2020 Combined Policy Meetings on Admissions into Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria.

Speaking on this issue, the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede disclosed that academic institutions in Nigeria, with the decision, are not allowed to go below the minimum cut-off points adopted at the meeting for admissions for the 2020 academic session.

According to the registrar, who said this after the meeting for admissions and I quote below;

“What JAMB has done is to recommend the cut off points; We will only determine the minimum, whatever you determine as your admission cut-off mark is your decision.

The Admission Board will ensure that the criterion that is set by the Nigerian Senate is strictly adhered to by the institutions’ admission officers and no shifting of goal post in the middle of the admission exercise.
